Its parent company, America Press, Inc., is a nonprofit, tax exempt corporation. The Associated Press calls this publication "required Roman Catholic reading" under its current editor, Thomas Reese.

National Catholic Reporter
The National Catholic Reporter (NCR) is an independent newsweekly that supports a full, honest, and open exchange of ideas while working out of a Roman Catholic tradition and an ecumenical spirit.
